It seems like Frozen fans do not need to let go just yet.
Followers of the Disney blockbuster animation film were rejoicing this week after the news about a sequel had been released.
However, the follow-up may not be what most fans expected, since the latest Frozen installment will be in a form of a book series instead of another movie.
The film officially holds the record of being the highest-grossing animated movie in history, with the total of $1.2 billion box office takings worldwide – yet fans are still demanding for a sequel.
The clamor for a second Frozen offering had been very strong ever since the first film was released in November 2013.
To give in to the fan's requests, Random House announced that it will come up with a series of books that is believed to continue the plot from the hit film.
The book titled Anna & Elsa #1: All Hail the Queen, and the follow-up story called Anna and Elsa #2: Memory and Magic will be released in the market on January 6, 2015.
It is said that the first two books "will add more detail to the Frozen world and follow Anna and Elsa as they get to know each other as sisters."
Random House children's division president Barbara Marcus stated: "We have seen our Disney Never Girls series fill a real niche in the chapter book market, and with the momentum for Frozen only continuing to grow, we knew this was the perfect focus for this new series."
Still, Disney has yet to officially confirm if a second Frozen film will be on the way despite the massive demand for it.
The film and its catchy soundtrack remain to be a hit months after its release. Idina Menzel's performance of the Academy Award winning song "Let It Go" garnered millions of views in YouTube up to this day.
