Floyd Mayweather Jr. next fight rumors: Mayweather lashes out at Bob Arum, Oscar De La Hoya

Even though retired, Floyd Mayweather Jr. holds the distinction of being undefeated and, of course, healthy. And, apparently, he is placing a lot of emphasis on that area after taking a swipe at two familiar names in boxing — Top Rank promoter Bob Arum and Golden Boy Promotions Oscar De La Hoya.

In an interview with FightHype.com, Mayweather gave his piece when it came to how promoters treat their fighters. And, apparently, he criticizes Arum and De La Hoya for the way they handle their fighters, singling out the case of Saúl "Canelo" Alvarez who, he claims, is being rushed into a fight with Gennady Golovkin.

"In my opinion, Oscar De La Hoya only cares about himself. In my opinion, Bob Arum don't care about no fighter. He only cares about himself. That's just my opinion and, as a man, I can express and speak my opinion. It's called freedom of speech," says Mayweather via FightHype.com.

While his inputs are bound to create a stir, Mayweather does carry a valid point. But the thing is the title is under the jurisdiction of the body that sanctions it — in this case the World Boxing Council (WBC).

To recall, the WBC is aggressively pushing for Alvarez to defend his title against Gennady Golovkin. In fact, its earlier stance was to have an immediate rematch between the two fighters.

The WBC has, however, softened its stance since then, allowing the two to have a voluntary fight as negotiations continue.

Alvarez is not too keen on immediately facing Golovkin. He is asking for a 155 pounds catch weight which, unfortunately, the WBC nor Golovkin are unlikely to give in to.

The latest rants from the flamboyant one is likely to draw a lot of criticism and likely something that would hit Mayweather once again on how he managed his career. Although not surprising, Mayweather will likely care less about what people say since he is undefeated and lying comfortably in luxury.
