Floyd Mayweather Jr. next fight rumors: Can past conqueror lure 'Money' out of retirement? [VIDEO]

Everyone knows that Floyd Mayweather Jr. has barely any reason to fight again unless the fight is lucrative and making sense. But what if one digs deeper?

There was a time when Mayweather knew how it felt to lose and that happened way back in 1996. It was at the 1996 Olympic Games when a Bulgarian boxer named Serafim Todorov won a controversial decision over Mayweather.

Todorov would eventually be awarded the silver medal while Mayweather settled for the bronze at the time.

Since then, Todorov hasn't exactly been a big name if one compares the two fighters right now.

Already 46, Todorov did turn pro in 1998 but wasn't as active as the flamboyant one. He retired in 2003 but recently made a ring return which saw him win over Aleksandar Chukaleiski.

Comparing the two boxers now, Mayweather is obviously way ahead. Even though Todorov claims a little re-organization on his part could get him up and about, Mayweather may be too wise, seeing the level of fighters he has fought through his professional career.

Would a rematch with someone from his past be enticing enough to get Mayweather don his boxing gloves yet again?

While there is a reason on the table for Mayweather, it may not be enough. True that he did win over Mayweather, but that was a long time ago. At that time, perhaps even Mayweather was clueless he would be this big.

So if Todorov is to be gauged, he could end up among the ones wishing to get a piece of Mayweather and hope to get rich out of it. It is seemingly the obvious reply that the American boxer would end up saying.

Second, it hardly qualifies as a lucrative deal. It would be more of payback. But given that it would take place almost 19 to 20 years later, seeing a 46-year-old boxer get a crack over high profile fighters in the market to date may not necessarily be something that Mayweather would be interested in.

Anyway, check out that 1996 match below.
