Floyd Mayweather rumors: Boxer believes Ronda Rousey, Conor McGregor given too much spotlight

Floyd Mayweather Jr. never ceases to amaze when it comes to being in the middle of controversies. While racism has been around for quite some time, the whole topic has become the talk of the town courtesy of the undefeated American boxer.

Mayweather's tirade seems to have stemmed from the issue of rankings of African-Americans, notably Andre Ward.

Based on the way his interview with Fighthype.com went, Mayweather hits back at the sudden fall of former champion Andre Ward coming from a loss. Ward now finds himself dropping to fourth in the middleweight rankings. According to him, the drop is a show of disrespect.

Mayweather singles out some combat sports personalities to back up his claim. In the list are Ronda Rousey, Conor McGregor and Gennady Golovkin.

While he didn't exactly say anything offensive regarding the trio, he singles them out as prime examples.

Before Rousey shockingly lost to Holly Holm, Mayweather points out Rowdy's popularity and how other black boxers like Laila Ali never really got the push in similar fashion.

He also singles out the same case with McGregor, who talks a lot of trash. This time he compares himself saying that when he goes on a trash-talking spree, everyone takes notice. But if McGregor does it, he somehow gets off easily.

So in all, he feels that racism exists in the world of combat sports, and he and Laila Ali are living proof to such.

WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman seems to be aware of Mayweather's tirade but believes they are doing everything to prevent a racism issue from existing in the sport via Boxingscene.com.

In fact he even singles out one glaring proof that racism does not exist in boxing – the fact that Mayweather is the one to earn the highest purse in boxing history. That, of course, was in reference to "Money's" May fight with Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao where he got $300 million.
