Those who have gotten the new Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the Galaxy Note 4 have reportedly complained about performance and device issues after the update.
Last week's rollout of Android 5.0 to Note devices like the Galaxy Note 4 for T-Mobile subscribers has been completed, and the company now joins other carriers in having the Note 4 completely updated to the 5.0 version of Lollipop. Most companies, like Sprint and AT&T, have already released their over the air updates for the Galaxy Note 4 in March.
However, most users are now complaining that since the updates, there have been numerous performance issues on their devices, most notably the excessive battery drain, overheating, and forced closing of apps.
Most device owners are now waiting for the 5.1 update. Considering the time it took Samsung and most of the carriers to roll out the 5.0 update though, the newest Android Lollipop version might still take months to come out for Note devices.
One owner has remedied the situation by doing a factory reset after the update. In a report by Ajay Kumar, he noted that a week after his 5.0 update on his Galaxy Note 4, the problems started cropping up. In terms of performance lags, screen time decreased from six to eight hours to four hours, almost half the maximum time for a single charge. Also, the device started overheating while charging.
Kumar then proceeded to roll back the device to its factory settings. After backing up his data, the device was then reset to its factory settings.
No worries for the personal data that is lost in the roll back though. Using Samsung Kies, device owners can port their old data back into the device without worrying about losing any information. It is imperative, however, that the expansion card be removed out of its slot before attempting to reset, as the roll back will erase all of the data in the device, including those in the SD card if it is still inserted.
