MTV has yet to renew "Finding Carter" for season 3, but if the series ends up getting the okay, executive producer Emily Whitesell already has plans on a storyline for Ben (Ben Winchell).

During the season 3 finale, viewers saw Ben left for dead after the bloody fight with Rick (Rob Mayes). Ben decided to testify against him, but the drug dealer was able to get out of jail. When he confronted Rick, Ben got beaten up and was left bleeding beside the road. The scene was a cliffhanger, and viewers have no idea what will become of him.

In season 3, Whitesell told The Hollywood Reporter that most of Ben's backstory would be revealed. She said that fans did not exactly get much of Winchell's character in the past installments. If the series would be renewed, the showrunner hinted that they wanted his storyline to continue, but it still could go either way with him.

"We're on his side, but he's been sucked back into this life in a way that he may not get out of. Will he triumph eventually? I wanted to leave it up in the air," she said.

Meanwhile, the fate that is worse than Ben's is Max's (Alex Saxon), who ended up killing Jared (Jackson Rathbone) to defend Carter (Kathryn Prescott). Max made the difficult decision to turn himself in to the police, after Carter told him it was the right thing to do. When the series returns for season 3, Whitesell said that there would be a trial to determine his future, but it would not be a "giant legal battle on TV."

She said that the audience would probably not be interested in the legality of the hearing. The executive producer just shared that it would be an emotional moment for everyone, as Max faces an uncertain path, which will likely end up in jail.
