Fans can expect that "Fast and Furious 8" will feature the return of the premise that they have come to love about the franchise — racing, racing, and more racing.

PEOPLE reports that the upcoming installment will primarily be about street racing, just like what the late Paul Walker wanted it to be before his untimely death. Michelle Rodriguez, who plays Letty Ortiz in the blockbuster movies, said in an interview that they will be honoring their friend's request by going back to the core theme, which they have started with.

"Paul wanted to bring it back down to the core, which is the racing. He was always complaining about the special effects and the blue screens," said Rodriguez.

The actress said that the eighth movie will be a tribute to Walker, who passed away last November 2013 in a car accident. She said that he was not a fan of "exaggerated explosions and crazy plot lines." To stay true to his wishes, the production team is reportedly trying to reconstruct the storyline, one with less booms and bangs.

Rodriguez also explained that Vin Diesel was pertaining to the street racing being the focus for the next movie, when he said it would be "keeping true to car audience." She said that this will certainly be a challenge for them, as the franchise has gotten bigger than ever.

Meanwhile, in an interview with E! News, the 37-year-old actress revealed that they will start filming the upcoming project next summer and that they're already "rounding up" the crew. She admitted that the troop still has not gotten over Paul's loss until now, and that filming will be the perfect way to cope up with the sadness.

"We need a good reason to move on after Paul. And being that this is a global franchise now, it's not just the American baby, it's important that we consider moving on and take it seriously," the actress said.

Rodriguez also dished out that they are considering filming in New York and that hopefully, the franchise will be open to the idea.

"Fast and Furious 8" is set for release in April 2017.
