'Fallout Shelter' news: 85 million Vaults built; bug discovered in Android version

A perfect, theoretical Fallout Shelter. Bethesda Softworks/Fallout Shelter

Bethesda Softworks is on a roll this year, with the announcement of "Fallout 4" generally received well. The success was repeated with the reception to their mobile phone game, "Fallout Shelter."

An infographic shared by Bethesda shows that everything is going well with the release of "Fallout Shelter," a game in which people are tasked with the construction of a Vault or shelter and serving as its Overseer. Players will have to balance the output of work among the dwellers of the Vault to make it produce its own food and expand the Vault itself.

The infographic shows that in the first month alone, more than 85 million Vaults have been created among one billion individual game sessions. This account for the same number of downloads as well as gamers collectively spending 29 million hours in the game.

This doesn't mean, however, that it's all smooth sailing ahead. According to Tech Times, "Fallout Shelter's" brilliance could be hindered by bugs. The Android version of the app is deemed "unstable" and is reportedly ridden with bugs, including one that doesn't help a player's efforts to propagate the remnants of humanity and civilization.

Also, a "save data" corruption bug is said to be preventing players from saving their hard-earned game. Morever, in-game purchases were reported to be erased along with the save data.

To date, the bug has only been noticed to affect players who are on Android, and the article says there have been no news whether iOS users are also affected. Players have thus far informed Bethesda via the forum of their encounters with the bug, asking for a solution.

Bethesda is expected to release a patch that will address the issues. Until then, it would be wise to keep in-app purchases to a bare minimum, or none at all.
