'Fallout 4' release date: Bethesda confirms DLC, Season Pass details

"Fallout 4" Bethesda Softworks

Although developer Bethesda remains mum on how the story will unfold in "Fallout 4," the company revealed that fans can expect more beyond the game's release this November.

In a post on the official company blog, Bethesda announced that "Fallout 4" will have its own expansion packs. However, the game studio itself does not know what the DLCs will be — if they will be a continuation of the game or if they will have new content entirely. The planned DLCs will start coming early next year, and will be included in the Season Pass that will also be offered for "Fallout 4" players. The Season Pass will be made available for $30.

"Fallout 4" is not the only title in the franchise to receive expanded content via DLCs. The previous installment, "Fallout 3," received five paid expansions. New achievements, stories, and items came with "Operation: Anchorage," "The Pitt," "Broken Steel," "Point Lookout," and the last, "Mothership Zeta."

Aside from the upcoming DLCs, "Fallout 4" will also receive regular updates much like Bethesda's other titles. The updates will comprise of hot fixes for any encountered bugs and glitches, system and gameplay improvements, and other tweaks.

Meanwhile, Bethesda also assured players that they will be given more freedom and control in "Fallout 4." The game will integrate its own mod kit, which will be released for free in 2016, first for the PC version and later on for the Xbox One and PS4. The Creation Kit feature will allow players to create their own "Fallout 4" experience, which Bethesda said would be "game-worthy" since the system is the same development tool used in creating the title itself.

"Fallout 4" is scheduled to be released on Nov. 10 for the PC and the Xbox One and PS4 platforms.
