'Falling Skies' season 5 spoilers: The final battle commences in 'Reborn'

"Falling Skies" season 5 is coming to an epic close in a few days. The hit post-apocalyptic drama's final episode sounds both reassuring and frightening, having been titled "Reborn," which could mean the resurgence of either mankind or its villain.

In this installment, the battle long fought by the Masons and the 2nd Mass will be deemed as either hopeless or life-changing. The alien invasion that made the planet a massive prison to its dwellers is finally moving forward to its culmination.

The ultimate standoff takes place in what was described in the synopsis as "the bowels of an iconic American location," where the group and their newly-established allies meet obstacles they never prepared for. This, needless to say, will bring greater peril to the team.

The summary for the "Falling Skies" season 5 finale doesn't promise that everyone will come out alive, as the final stretch of their path to victory is the most dangerous one.

Unfortunately, there's no clue on who will bite the dust before everything comes to an end. In the penultimate episode, it was made to look like Pope did not live to fight till the finish, but there are speculations that he is still alive.

Fans can expect that some characters won't make it. and while this will greatly distress the group and at some point distract them from the mission, this won't eventually stop them from saving an awful lot more people when this great battle finally becomes their triumph.

This is strongly hinted in the latter half of the synopsis for the finale, which reads, "Despite great loss along the way, they must persevere with hopes of once and for all reclaiming Earth and humanity."

The season 5 finale of "Falling Skies" titled "Reborn" airs on Aug. 30.
