"Empire" is currently one of the most highly rated musical television dramas onscreen, shocking viewers with its big cliffhangers and heavy plot twists. Last season, it ended the sophomore run by dropping plot-heavy bombshells on its viewers.

According to Ecumenical News, fans are eagerly waiting for the next season to start, since Ilene Chaiken, the showrunner, has been setting up season 3 to be a "battle between dark and light". Nobody knows what these might mean, but others speculate that these may represent Lucious and his half-brother Tariq, who only found out about their relation to each other at the end of the previous season. Australia Network News also believes that this could signify more major character deaths to come in season three.

HWHills also reports that we find out Cookie will no longer be interested in anything romantic with Lucious, since she is done with him after his fake marriage with the lunatic Anika. However, they will still continue being in each other's lives. Also, nobody knows yet on who was flying out of the roof in that devastating final scene of the last episode, where Anika and Rhonda were starting up a large fight. It is still unknown who fell, but viewers are pretty sure that this means one of these characters might not survive, and whoever it is will be giving a big farewell sometime soon. Fans will find out who this will be on the first episode of the new season.

According to a report by Christian Times, the fans may also expect the rapper Bre-Z to reprise her character Freda Gatz in the new season. Sh was previously removed from the storyline after she was locked up in prison for shooting her friend. However, this doesn't mean that everything is over for the character, because she apparently has even more of a story that is still left untold. Everything will be revealed this fall, when "Empire" will premiere the first episode of its third season on FOX.
