'Empire' season 2: Cookie guns for Camilla's downfall

Fans of "Empire" can bet that when the hit FOX series returns for season 2B, Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) will not rest until she has taken down Camilla (Naomie Campbell).

During the midseason finale, Mimi (Marisa Tomei) succeeded in ousting Lucious (Terrence Howard) from his position as CEO of Empire Entertainment. She skillfully controlled his youngest son Hakeem (Bryshere Y. Gray) to make the heist possible and at the end of the episode, viewers finally learned why she was doing it. It turned out her wife was Camilla, Hakeem's former girlfriend, who the Lyons sent away for being a bad influence on their son.

The promo for the upcoming episode shows Cookie shouting at Hakeem for throwing away their legacy. Even though she and Lucious do not exactly see eye-to-eye on things, both love Empire and do not wish it to go to other people, especially to someone like Camilla. The teaser shows Cookie trying to comfort her estranged husband, who clearly has not gotten over what happened to him. When the series returns for season 2B, Cookie will surely not quietly sit in the corner and let Camilla rub their downfall to their faces.

According to executive producer Ilene Chaiken, Cookie will take time to "regroup and seize opportunities" in her quest to take down the Camilla. It appears that Cookie will see the other woman's action as a declaration of war and will retaliate as she sees fit. The executive producer told TV Line that Henson's character is ready to take back what was hers.

"Apart from wanting what's hers, wanting her family to be together has always been the driving purpose in Cookie's life," she said.

Meanwhile, season 2B will also see both Lucious and Jamal (Jussie Smollett) vying for "Song of the Year" at the American Sound Awards. The older Lyon will reportedly take the competition personally, as his pride is at stake if his own child defeats him in the field he has already mastered.

"Empire" season 2 returns on Wednesday, March 30 at 9 p.m. EST on FOX.
