Gaming giant Valve is set to overhaul "Dota 2" that would bring new content, gameplay features, and design to the multiplayer online battle arena game. According to the company's announcement ahead of this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo convention, Valve is set to launch "Dota 2 Reborn," complete with a beta program and constant updates.

In their official blog, Valve wrote, "Today we are announcing the Dota 2 Reborn Beta, which brings with it a new interface, new engine and Custom Games. Everything in the dashboard has been completely redesigned utilizing a new UI framework, and the engine that powers the game has been fully replaced."

While the announcement only referred to "a new engine" as part of the big revamp, many observers speculate that Valve is readying a consumer release for its Source 2 legacy engine, the successor to the original Source engine currently in use. The first Source engine debuted in 2004 as the vehicle for "Half-Life 2."

The major update to "Dota 2" has been met positively by both hardcore players and casual fans alike. For casual players or those new to the MMO scene, the rebranding of the title to "Dota 2 Reborn" means that the overhauled interface will introduce a new, user-friendly dashboard. The new interface will integrate better training apps to make it easier to introduce "Dota 2" gameplay to newbies.

Meanwhile, hardcore gamers of "Dota 2" will also welcome the change, since the update will bring both visual redesign and technical upgrades that will make it easier and more convenient to join and play game sessions. The upcoming new version will also be a big plus to the title, since "Dota 2" is a mainstay of the expanding e-sport landscape.

Valve is also planning to introduce an expanded version of DotaTV integrated with game information and detailed player and session stats.

Valve has not announced yet on when the beta program will commence, but promised players consistent updates to build up the upcoming "Dota 2 Reborn."
