'Disney Infinity 3.0': new characters added to roster

Disney recently showcased its different lineups in a special event, the annual D23 Expo. One of the highlights was the company's announcement on the next expansion for its "Disney Infinity" series.

For the upcoming "Disney Infinity 3.0," the entertainment giant has revealed that there will be some characters to be added to the roster, particularly a new play set from the upcoming film, "Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens". Already confirmed to be making it to the toys-to-life game include Finn and Rey, two of the major characters in the next "Star Wars" film installment.

Aside from the characters from one of the entertainment industry's biggest cult classics, other prominent characters will also be included in the new batch of figurines. Disney characters such as Peter Pan, Olaf, Mulan; Mickey, and Minnie; and Quorra and Sam Flynn from the movie "Tron" will also be making their way into the third iteration of character figures.

Perhaps one additional gem for fans that Disney included in its announcement is a confirmation that "Kingdom Hearts III" is on its way. The upcoming "Disney Infinity 3.0" title will feature the Keyblade of Sora, the main protagonist of "Kingdom Hearts III," as the game's Ultimate Unlock.

Aside from the new batch of famous characters, "Disney Infinity 3.0" will also get new and improved features. The Toy Box, one of the many options in the game, will be expanded into the Toy Box Hub. The Hub will be an expanded launch-and-play feature that players can use to create their own personal worlds inside the title and customize a mini-game to their liking.

In addition, the new title will also include a new multiplayer lobby and new social sharing tools.

"Disney Infinity 3.0" is scheduled for release on Aug. 30.
