Detroit Pistons trade rumors 2016: Coach Stan Van Gundy denies rumors regarding Brandon Jennings heading to Nets

Until the trade period is still on going, Detroit Pistons point guard Brandon Jennings will continually be linked to teams, although head coach Stan Van Gundy already shot down the latest rumor involving the Brooklyn Nets.

In a report by Chris Sheridan of Sheridan Hoops, league sources said Jennings might join the Nets before the trade deadline.

Since returning from an injury, Jennings was dragged to trade rumors and talks while also having a backup role, with Reggie Jackson now the starting point guard of the Pistons.

A number of teams in the National Basketball Association (NBA) are looking to boost their backcourt and Sheridan mentioned Brooklyn as one of those squads.

Sheridan said the Nets need a point guard after veteran playmaker Jarrett Jack suffered a season-ending injury last January and Jennings can fill in that gap.

However, that rumor was immediately killed by Van Gundy who said, according to The Detroit News, "I got my email from (general manager) Jeff (Bower) on the discussions that have gone on and there was no mention of Brooklyn and no mention of Brandon in any of it."

The veteran coach added, "But the way (the media) makes (stuff) up this time of year."

Jennings, who was the former starter for Detroit, is slowly finding his groove this season, averaging 6.7 points, two rebounds, and 3.2 assists in 17.5 minutes of action per contest, playing in 21 games so far.

It is expected that Jennings stays with the Pistons since he is a key piece to Van Gundy's rotation and the team's backcourt.

The Pistons are currently contending in the Eastern Conference and are even holding victories against some of the top teams in the league, including the defending champions Golden State Warriors.

Detroit is eighth in the Eastern Conference standings at 27–25, a record it can improve when the Toronto Raptors head to The Palace of Auburn Hills Monday.
