'Destiny' news: Trials of Osiris returning Oct. 30

Good news for players who are itching to go head-to-head with their teammates against other fireteams – the player-versus-player Trials of Osiris mode is slated to return to "Destiny" next week.

According to the weekly update on Bungie's official site, the gameplay mode is set to return next Friday, Oct. 30 for players of "Destiny." The gameplay mode is a fireteam survival, where two teams of three Guardians per team duke it out on Crucible maps. A twist in a "Trials of Osiris" session is that there are no respawns available for each team, and players will stay dead as long as the match continues. However, with certain items and skills, team members can help fallen Guardians recover their health within a limited time period.

The winning fireteam is the one that manages to chalk up five wins in a session.

Trials of Osiris was introduced as a Crucible gameplay mode in the second expansion of "Destiny," House of Wolves. It was slated to return to celebrate both the second year of the sci-fi space-age title and the release of the third expansion, The Taken King.

Originally, Trials of Osiris was supposed to be unlocked this week. However, developer Bungie found an exploited glitch in the system which tipped the balance for the 3v3 game mode. It was found out that Guardians of the Nightstalker subclass could take advantage of the glitch and have unlimited energy for their supers.

Meanwhile, aside from unlocking Trials of Osiris, Bungie also made improvements to the overall gameplay of the title to celebrate Year Two of "Destiny." Those who are hardcore players of the title will be glad to know that starting this week, there will be a new Hard Mode for the King's Fall Raid. This will give added challenges and rewards to Guardians. The new mode is challenging enough that Bungie has issued recommended Light Levels – Guardians would have to be in between Light Levels 300-320.
