Derrick Rose NBA news: Rose not included in USA Basketball list

The official list of players selected for USA Basketball has been announced, 34 names which were made up of 26 notable names from the National team roster and eight new faces.

The full list of players named can be found here .

Among the new faces include that of Jimmy Butler, Harrison Barnes, Michael Carter-Williams, Mike Conley, Draymond Green, Tobias Harris, DeAndre Jordan and Victor Oladipo.

As far as the national team roster is concerned, the names included were no surprise except maybe for one – Derrick Rose.

Rose was already apprehensive the past days on whether he would participate this year. After being plagued by injuries for the past three seasons, it is believed that Rose would be better off taking time out to help him fully recover.

Rose is coming off a torn meniscus injury and his exclusion will allow him ample time to recuperate and spring back to action for the coming NBA season.

On the other hand, teammate Jimmy Butler will get his chance to show his wares among the new faces. After a breakout year that eventually saw the Bulls offering him a lucrative contract, his inclusion adds another feather to the cap of his colorful career.

Butler will also be reunited somewhat with old coach Tom Thibodeau who is one of the assistant coaches for Team USA.

As things stand now, Rose could be out of it since it doesn't appear he has any plans of at least showing up at Team USA training camp which will be held from August 11 to 13 in Las Vegas.

It will be recalled that USA Basketball director Jerry Colangelo is setting the line to see who are really committed of playing for Team USA. That includes making it a requirement for players (injured or not) to be present at camp.

Several players have signified their attention of attending camp despite the fact that they may not be playing. That list includes Kevin Durant, Kevin Love and Lebron James who may be around for just one day owing to a family event which was set much earlier than the announced camp date.
