The Denver Broncos will take on the Pittsburgh Steelers in their Divisional Playoffs game on Jan. 17, and one member of the defense, linebacker DeMarcus Ware, is looking to play despite a sprained medial collateral ligament (MCL) on his left knee.

Ware sustained the injury in Denver's season closer victory over the San Diego Chargers, the Coloradoan reported.

Despite the injury, Ware is expected to play this Sunday when they host the Steelers at Sports Authority Field at Mile High, according to The Denver Post

The report also mentioned that Ware missed practices in the past week because of the recent health setback and is also rehabbing a back woe.

Ware is a crucial piece of Denver's defense and in 11 games played in the 2015 National Football League (NFL) regular season has 25 tackles and 7.5 sacks.

A huge help for the 33-year-old veteran is the Broncos sealing the top spot in the American Football Conference (AFC), since it gave him and the team two weeks to rest and prepare before they begin the playoffs.

The two week-off is of huge help to other players who are nursing injuries as well, since they are given ample time to recover before grinding it out again on the field.

For Ware, who is playing his second season with the Broncos, the playoff game versus Pittsburgh is a chance for him to record only the second postseason victory in his storied career in the NFL.

The Denver Post mentioned in its report that the former first-round pick played in five playoff games in his entire career but only won once.

Meanwhile for Denver, the team is on its fifth consecutive playoff appearance and is aiming for better results in this season's playoffs.

In the 2014 season, the Broncos were also in the Divisional Playoffs when their Super Bowl hopes were crushed by the Indianapolis Colts.
