As the Denver Broncos aim to become American Football Conference (AFC) Champions this Sunday, cornerback Chris Harris Jr. is optimistic that he can help the team, with his shoulder injury healing.

"Oh yeah ... I'm light years better than I was last week," Harris said after Thursday's practice, according to ESPN

"I felt more comfortable (this week) putting hands on cats, and putting hands on and holding them and kind of have them break away from me. I gain that confidence, as long as there are no setbacks, I should be good to go," the 26-year-old cornerback added.

According to ESPN's report, Harris injured the left shoulder in their season closer versus the San Diego Chargers, and played through it in their Divisional Playoffs win over the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The report added that Harris, who was not fond of leaving in games, had to walk off the field against Pittsburgh because of the injury.

Harris, who is playing in his fifth season in the National Football League (NFL) and the Broncos, has 58 tackles in 16 regular season games.

Despite Harris feeling better, he is still a game-time decision for Denver with Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak saying, "We'll see how he feels on game day, but everything up to this point he has been able to participate in fully. I think he's making great progress."

Harris has been a starter for the Broncos since the 2012 season and in the past two regular seasons (2014 and 2015), has yet to miss a game.

The former Kansas Jayhawk will also be participating in his second consecutive Pro Bowl on Jan. 31 before Super Bowl 50 takes place on Feb. 7.

Harris and the Broncos will have home field advantage this Sunday for the AFC Championship game versus the defending conference and Super Bowl champions, the New England Patriots.
