The Dallas Mavericks seem content with the current lineup they have, but if ever they try to explore the trade market before the deadline arrives, one player they may get is the Denver Nuggets' Darrell Arthur.

According to SB Nation's Mavs Moneyball, Arthur becoming a Maverick is a long shot, but if the team will be persistent, they may have a new backup for franchise star Dirk Nowitzki.

Arthur's potential addition to the Mavs was discussed in the report and how his arrival can help the 2011 National Basketball Association (NBA) champions.

The skills Arthur can bring to Dallas is his ability to space the floor and his shooting, which can draw defenders to the outside, leading to various scoring opportunities.

As of now, based on ESPN's depth chart for the Mavericks, after Nowitzki, Charlie Villanueva follows at the power forward position.

However, in the discussion in SB Nation's Mavs Moneyball's report, they believe Arthur will likely be the first big man off the bench if he becomes part of the Mavericks.

Currently playing for Denver, only his second team in the NBA, Arthur is averaging 7.5 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 1.2 assists in 20.8 minutes of action as a member of the second unit.

The 27-year-old player's numbers are not bad for a young veteran coming off the bench in a team loaded with budding big men.

If the Mavericks pursue a deal for Arthur, they will have a backup for Nowitzki who can give quality minutes and production.

Along with those, Arthur also has playoff experience playing for the Memphis Grizzlies from 2008 to 2013.

The Mavericks are sixth in the Western Conference standings with a 25–19 record, currently on a two-game winning streak.

If they continue to play like this, it is not hard for Dallas to make it to the playoffs and Arthur may be of help to the team if ever he joins it.
