Dallas Mavericks rumors: Chandler Parsons and Wesley Matthews slowly reaping fruit

The Dallas Mavericks could be bringing it up a notch with Chandler Parsons and Wesley Matthews slowly coming back to form. Of the two, however, Parsons has made remarkable headway.

Parsons was officially inserted into the Mavs' starting lineup and together with Matthews, the two showed how ready and loaded they were for this season. And the scary thought about it all is that they come at a time when the boys of head coach Rick Carlisle are already pulling off surprises.

One is that the Mavericks were never given a chance to be where they are. There were critics who believed that the Mavs would find it hard to win games after bombing out of the free agent race.

Yet as of report writing, the Mavs are 19–13, capped by a 114–91 rout of the defending champion Golden State Warriors who missed the services of Stephen Curry badly.

With that said, one just has to wonder the potential of the Mavericks with a full and healthy rack. Matthews is not yet back to peak form and also someone trying to feel his way into the system of Carlisle.

It remains to be seen how far the Parsons–Matthews tandem can bring the Mavericks but the season story goes way beyond the duo. There are others who have stepped up, including Dirk Nowitzki who is playing out his final year with the team.

So from doubters, the Mavericks have a lot of believers right now and yet we are barely midway the 2015–16 NBA season. With Parsons back to form and Matthews likely to follow soon, can the Mavericks inch higher to the Western Conference leaders and complete their surprise season performance?

As it stands right now, the Mavs may do so but the real deal comes in the playoffs. With Parsons and Matthews healthy plus the other players stepping up, it will not be surprising if the Mavs pull off some stunners by the time the post season comes around.
