With CBS confirming that Ted Danson will be leaving "CSI: Cyber" at the end of season 2, viewers are speculating on how the showrunners will cut out his character D.B. Russell from the story.

It has been reported that the award-winning actor has been cast to co-star in a new NBC sitcom with Kristen Bell. CBS President Glenn Geller confirmed the news to Variety while attending the Television Critics Association press tour in California earlier in the month. He said that Danson "would not be returning" to "CSI: Cyber."

Currently, D.B. is the Director of Next Generation Cyber Forensics of the Cyber Crimes Division. After Avery Ryan (Patricia Arquette), the group considers him the second-in-command, what with his seniority and experience on solving cases. Although cybercrime is a new territory for the forensic botanist, he soon made his presence known by incorporating the old style investigation to cases that baffled Cyber. The moment he leaves the unit will be a sad day for the youngsters who have come to adore his eccentricities.

So how exactly will D.B. exit the show? With the current season close to ending, an episode where he is going to meet a new woman comes into play. According to TV Guide, the episode titled "Going Viral" will see D.B. possibly meeting his next love interest. A text sent by mistake will reportedly be the bridge that will bring them together. D.B. has been divorced from his wife of many years. The White Hats in the unit constantly bullies him to go out on dates, but he has shown no interest so far. Will this woman be the reason why D.B. will leave Cyber?

Also in the episode, Avery and the squad will take on an airborne virus that threatens to cause a cyber meltdown. It will reportedly target cellphones, jamming them when calling a specific number, the emergency number 911. Will the unit be able to take it down before it can cause more problems?

"CSI: Cyber" season 2 episode 12 will air on Sunday, Jan. 31, at 10 p.m. EST on CBS.
