Conor McGregor vs. Jose Aldo rematch news: UFC president Dana White hints at potential rematch

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) President Dana White has not forgotten about former champion Jose Aldo. If reports are true, both are expected to talk soon and discuss the former featherweight champion's next fight.

Speaking to ESPN Brazil, White says he will talk with Aldo and decide who the Brazilian will face next. Although it wasn't mentioned directly if it would be Conor McGregor, the fact that White replied that it's for the UFC featherweight title seems to indicate that it will indeed be "Scarface" against "The Notorious."

Aldo has been silent since losing to McGregor last December where he lost in just 13 seconds. Rather than an immediate rematch, the name of Frankie Edgar was being groomed as McGregor's next opponent.

That was until Aldo came out in the open and aired his piece. Being a former champion, Aldo believes that he deserves an immediate rematch despite the one-sided outcome. Complicating things is Edgar who was verbally promised a title-shot and Aldo made it clear that he wants no one else but the Irishman for obvious payback.

White was apprehensive at first on a possible rematch, likely due to the results of UFC 194. But now, the UFC president has changed course, something that he has been known to do before when it comes to decision-making.

Any decision on what comes next for Aldo or Edgar may depend largely on what happens at UFC 196 next month. McGregor is set to face UFC lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos.

McGregor is aiming for a place in the UFC record books with another win, making him the only UFC fighter ever to hold two division titles.

Despite moving up to the lightweight class, McGregor was granted an exception of retaining the featherweight title.

The UFC normally asks champions who intend to fight in a different weight class to vacate their titles.
