Conor McGregor next fight news: Jose Aldo's coach weighs in on McGregor win

Not too many folks would agree that the punch landed by Conor McGregor on Jose Aldo was a lucky hit, although there is one who says it certainly seemed like it.

That person is none other than Aldo's mentor, Andre Pederneiras. Analyzing what had happened at UFC 194, he shared with Combate that he believes it was a combination of luck and Aldo's cockiness that led to the Brazilian's downfall via.

Luck in the sense that he believed that McGregor was aiming for Aldo's head but eventually hit something better with Aldo's chin. On why that happened was something he believes was because of Aldo's offense.

So in essence, he believes that was where the "luck" part comes in. But whatever it was, he says, McGregor is unlikely to admit it anyway.

Regardless, such hardly matters. Admitting that Aldo was somewhat overconfident heading into the fight as well was equally crucial.

Seeing the length of his reign, such is not surprising. And from the looks of it, Aldo lost big time.

Some believe that Aldo deserves an immediate rematch, something similar to the same privilege that Ronda Rousey was given against Holly Holm.

But there are a lot of differences. Aldo isn't exactly on the good side of the UFC and that is an angle seen by some as a reason why Frankie Edgar has been suddenly elevated to face The Notorious next.

That, of course, is not yet official, but at the rate that things are going now, Aldo will have to climb back up the hard way.

McGregor mentioned he would be willing to take on Aldo again, but all that is not really up to him at this point. The UFC will decide which route to make and sadly it isn't looking like it will favor the deposed Brazilian champ.
