Conor McGregor next fight news 2016: Coach sees The Notorious considering welterweight jump

Conor McGregor is gearing up to make history, which happens if he is able to win against UFC lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos at UFC 196 slated for March 5.

Even though many feel that McGregor may have bitten off more than he could chew, his coach (John Kavanagh) is confident that the Irishman can pull this one out.

McGregor, the UFC's biggest star at the moment, has been known to prove his worth despite the constant jibberish that comes with his appearances.

He did it against Jose Aldo when he finished off the Brazilian in just 13 seconds and he needs to do that once more against a veteran lightweight champion who has ruled the division.

Seemingly at a pretty confident level, it isn't surprising to hear that McGregor could take it to the next level eventually and set his sight on the title currently held by Robbie Lawler.

Looking that far right now could be a bit foolish. With that said, it is all about showing up and walking the talk for 'The Notorious' once more.

It all depends on what is in store for fans when UFC 196 is over. A win could open up that possibility of moving up to welterweight while a loss could sink McGregor back to earth and worry about his featherweight title.

Win or lose, McGregor has everything going his way after UFC 196. It should also be noted that even with a win, the Irishman needs to defend that featherweight title which, at the moment, is a toss-up between Aldo and Frankie Edgar.

There is also a looming possibility that he could vacate the featherweight title with another move up in the UFC ranks. However, seeing that UFC President Dana White has full confidence in what McGregor can do, could he be entertaining the thought of seeing someone hold three different UFC division titles at the same time?
