Kevin Love finally got the chance to play some real ball, participating in actual five-on-five full court and full contact practice, which should be good news for the Cleveland Cavaliers hopefuls.
But despite the fact that Love is trying to get back his rhythm, there is still uncertainty in the air on whether or not he will be able to play on opening night when the Cavs face the Chicago Bulls on Oct. 27.
Apparently, Love remains cautious after suffering a dislocated shoulder during the first round of the 2014–15 NBA playoffs against the Boston Celtics. Love underwent surgery for his shoulder, which was announced last April 29; but the All Star Forward wants to make sure that he is 100% cleared before he takes the floor once more.
"I feel pretty good," Love said via Sporting News. "As far as the opener goes, I am not completely sure. I'll probably get with the doctors and see what they have to say," he added.
David Blatt is confident that Love can easily be inserted into the starting lineup should he get clearance.
As far as Lebron James is concerned, Love looks fine and his return is good news as the team's injured stars slowly rejoin the Cavs while they prepare for another possible title run.
Kyrie Irving is another player on the mend, although the All-Star guard will likely make his debut by Christmas Day or January 2016 at the earliest.
One thing that Cavs plan to do this season is manage the playing minutes of their players. Seeing how key players fell like dominoes due to injury, the Cavs now know better that keeping players like James, Love and Irving healthy come the post season will be key for the team, which hopes to finally cop their first ever NBA title.
If Love does get clearance to play by opening night, he will likely play limited minutes as Blatt tries to slowly break-in the star forward as he tries to recall his old form.
