Although Christian athlete Lolo Jones has been filling her social media page with positive and inspiring messages, she did something during last week's Super Bowl 50 that upset most of her fans.

It all started when Jones, 33, shared a photo of herself sprinting with fellow athletes on her Twitter page (@lolojones) and jokingly captioned it: "When they say ribs are ready before Super Bowl starts."

One critic responded by saying, "Well we know you were the last to get yours then."

Jones appeared to have been upset by the jab, and she made a follow-up tweet: "When haters try to discourage you, keep working. Victories don't come without failures along the way."

That should have been enough, since Jones' 400,000 Twitter followers were very supportive of her athletic skills and were even impressed by the optimism she displayed.

Unfortunately, Jones later posted her critic's photo and took a swipe against her when she wrote, "My face when I wake up in the morning with no makeup on... (y'all didn't think I would let her off that easy huh)."

People weren't happy to see the Christian athlete stoop so low, and were quick to chide Jones. "You are an Olympian Lolo! Do you really need to do this? C'mon!" a disappointed fan wrote.

"Lolo, you could've turned the other cheek...why let it get to you?" another said.

A woman reminded Jones that "young girls look up to you," so she should not be giving them the "wrong ideas" as to how to respond to online negativity. She added that women in sports need to be more positive.

Meanwhile, a fan told both Jones and her hater that they should just "stop" with their mini Twitter war and "stand together, not apart."
