The 2017 Chevy Bolt EV promises two things: a base price of under $40,000 and a 238-mile range per charge. This combination could make buyers consider getting it.
General Motors has confirmed earlier that their 2017 Chevy Bolt EV will have a base price of $37,500. The auto manufacturer further believes that buyers will also take advantage of the $7,500 tax credit that the Federal government is offering for electric car buyers, which will drop the price even further. With a price tag of $30,000, it is one of the cheapest electric vehicles in the market.
Another feature that company boasts about its latest offering is its driving range, it can reach up to 238 miles when fully charged. Yes, Tesla's Model S and Model X can also offer more than 200 miles per charge, but their prices are not as affordable as the Chevy Bolt. Green Car Reports has even tested one last week and was able to use it for 240 miles, which happens to be the lowest range among four trials with four guest journalists testing the vehicle out.
The 2017 Chevy Bolt EV can be charged up at home either with a 240 or 120-volt charging systems. An hour worth of charging with the higher voltage charger can provide up to 25 miles of range. From empty to full, should take about 9.5 hours. Another option is to go to public DC Fast Charging station, where a 30-minute charging can provide up to 90 miles of range. This is perfect for adding up additional charge on the batteries when it is already on the road.
Monitoring its battery level is also simple. Every important information is displayed on a standard 10.2-inch diagonal center display screen that also shows range estimates, charge settings, energy left and a few more. This also acts as the infotainment system, so music, phone, and climate controls can all be accessed there. Another 8-inch diagonal display is available to the driver.
Chevy is expecting to deliver the first 2017 Bolt EV before the end of the year.
