Fans will be happy to know that Rick (Nathan Fillion) and his estranged wife Kate (Stana Katic) will be together once more in the upcoming episode of the series "Castle."

After a three-week break, the popular ABC show will return with an all new episode with "Mr. & Mrs. Castle." This time, though, the writers are promising that viewers will see the couple reunited. Recent reports reveal that fans are currently unhappy with the way things are going for Rick and Kate. This season, the showrunners have decided to separate the lead characters. This is said to be the primary reason for the decline in viewership ratings of "Castle." Some even say that it will be canceled due to the poor turnout. According to CarterMatt, the show has only reached a high of 1.2 in the coveted 18–49 viewer demographic.

In an interview with TV Line, writer Terence Paul Winter has teased a heart-winning reunion of husband and wife. He said that in episode 7, fans would finally learn why they had to split up the power couple.

"It's going to be a great episode. For the fans who right now are going, 'What the heck and Terence and Alexi [Hawley] doing?!,' when they see that episode they'll understand and see what we're going for," he said.

Meanwhile, the synopsis of episode 6 reveals that Rick's old pal Slaughter (guest star Adam Baldwin) will return to ask for his help. The New York Police Department detective will reportedly seek his assistance in a robbery case. Things take a turn for the worse, however, when the heist becomes associated with murder. Now, Slaughter is being tagged as a suspect and Castle does not know whether his friend is guilty or not. While husband Rick is busy doing police work, Kate is out of town traveling.

"Castle" season 8 airs Mondays at 10 p.m. EST on ABC.
