Casting Crown's Mark Hall 'doing great' and performing after beating cancer

Casting Crowns will be recording a live album this year and a worship album next year, says lead singer Mark Hall.

Contemporary Christian band Casting Crowns has been pretty busy creating new music and going on tours following lead singer Mark Hall's recent triumph over cancer.

Breathe Cast caught up with the band members during the K-LOVE Fan Awards and Hall happily said he is "doing great" and back to doing what he loves best—singing and sharing the Gospel.

"It was a slow process, but I'm back in the saddle, and we're on the road again doing our student ministry. So it was an interesting year," he said.

Hall received tons of support from the Christian community during his surgery earlier this year to have his cancerous right kidney removed. But he and the rest of his family and friends stayed optimistic that he would overcome that ordeal. And he did.

The band's violinist and vocalist Melodee DeVevo said the ordeal that Hall had to face was difficult for the band as well. But they managed to get by because of their strong support system.

"We're basically one big family," DeVevo said, adding that they all prayed for Hall. "It's just incredible to see the power of prayers when you see them being answered. It's been a big blessing to me personally to have the privilege of praying for one of my best friends," she said.

Casting Crowns immediately went on tour after Hall successfully recuperated from surgery. The band was even nominated for Group/Duo of the Year and Artist of the Year during the K-LOVE Fan Awards.

As to what's next for Casting Crowns, Hall revealed that they will be "recording a live record this summer and getting started on a worship record next year."
