One of Carolina Panthers' reliable veterans, linebacker Thomas Davis, just practiced Monday wearing what he called a hard brace on the broken arm suffered against the Arizona Cardinals in the National Football Conference (NFC) Championship Game.
Davis sustained the injury in the first half of the NFC Championship Game and never saw action again once he left the field.
Following the game, Davis told reporters that he will not be missing Super Bowl 50, the first in his 11-year career in the National Football League (NFL) and with Carolina.
The next day after the matchup with the Cardinals for the NFC Championship, Davis underwent surgery and just a week following the medical procedure, was back on the field Monday.
According to ESPN, Davis said he participated in Monday's practice wearing a hard brace, not a cast.
"Today went pretty well," Davis told reporters in the Super Bowl 50 Media Night at the SAP Center, ESPN reported.
"It was a light [practice] day, but I took every opportunity to hit it on something," the 32-year-old added.
Davis' focus was again on the upcoming Super Bowl as he also expressed, "If there's any way, any chance, any opportunity to play in the Super Bowl, I'm going to do it."
In 16 regular season games played this season, Davis had 105 tackles and 5.5 sacks, making him one important player in the Panthers' defense.
Carolina having him on the field this Sunday will be an added test for the American Football Conference (AFC) champions, the Denver Broncos.
However, in a report by The Denver Post, it was stated that the Broncos are aware of Davis' injury and are looking to take advantage of it.
The Panthers and Broncos will face each other at the Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California this Sunday, Feb. 7, for the ultimate prize in the NFL, the Vince Lombardi Trophy.
