Canelo Alvarez next fight news 2015: Gennady Golovkin negotiations resume

The World Boxing Council (WBC) is adamant about wanting to see Saúl "Canelo" Alvarez face Gennady "Triple G" Golovkin possibly in 2016, but it looks like talks have been stalled for now due to the Thanksgiving holiday in the United States.

Word about the temporary stoppage of negotiations comes no less from WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman, who reveals that they have extended fight negotiations until Dec. 11 to come to an agreement, ESPN reported.

It is a fact, of course, that the issue on the table is the dreaded catchweight which Alvarez and camp are imposing, something that the WBC and Golovkin are unlikely to adhere to. That is in fact seen as a setback to see the Alvarez vs. Golovkin match from happening although there are still a couple of days to consider.

The good news about it is that both camps are on board to talk about possibly making the fight happen.

Golovkin is willing and ready to take on Alvarez but sadly, such cannot be said of the Mexican who had reiterated he will only fight at 155 pounds.

Alvarez' stand has gone against his vow to take on the best available opponents, something he highlighted after winning via unanimous decision over Miguel Cotto to take the lineal WBC middleweight title.

The Mexican has, apparently, learned his lesson when he took on Floyd Mayweather Jr. before and lost but such is seen by many as lame to avoid a confrontation with Triple G.

Right now, all is not yet totally lost, even though some believe that Alvarez would eventually exhaust all measures to avoid facing Golovkin unless the Kazakh (and the WBC) gives in to the catchweight clause.

If so, does this mean that Alvarez will vacate the title or will he try to pull a fast one and delay the fight like maybe trying someone less dangerous at 160 pounds — the regular catchweight for the division?
