'Call of Duty: Black Ops 3' news: new trailer out, multiplayer beta details

 Treyarch

Publisher Activision and developer Treyarch are building up the hype for the upcoming "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3," releasing a new trailer and details about its upcoming multiplayer beta.

Announcing the kick-off on the company's official community page, Treyarch revealed that the upcoming multiplayer beta will include three maps, seven multiplayer gameplay modes, and eight character Specialists.

The three available maps vary in scope and size, and the terrain is also diverse. There is Hunted, a big hunting lodge underneath a waterfall set in the mountains of Ethiopia; Combine is a research facility for vertical farming and sustainability located in the Egyptian Sahara; and there is the Evac map, set in an abandoned emergency evacuation zone in the rooftop of one of the outlying flooded areas in Singapore's quarantine zone.

Meanwhile, those who will be given access to the multiplayer beta can have a choice between seven gameplay modes: Capture the Flag, Demolition, Domination; Hardpoint, Kill Confirmed, Search & Destroy; and finally, crowd favorite Team Deathmatch.

In addition to different gameplay modes and add-on maps, the multiplayer beta will also introduce players to a wider selection of Specialists, the character classes in the "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" title. Aside from the default Spectre and Reaper Specialists, there will also be additional Battery, Nomad, Outrider, Prophet; Ruin, and Seraph. Each Specialist has a unique background, combat specialization, and weapons proficiency. In addition, the Specialists can level up via ranks and the game's progression system.

The multiplayer beta access will go live on Aug. 19 for players who pre-ordered "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" for the PlayStation 4. Meanwhile, the access will be opened for PC and Xbox One pre-orders on Aug. 26.

The game is expected to roll out in full release on Nov. 6 across platforms.
