Boxing rumors 2016: Kell Brook ready to move on if Amir Khan backs out of potential June fight

After his failed chase on Floyd Mayweather Jr. and then Manny Pacquiao, the last thing that Amir Khan would want is a loss against Kell Brook.

Brook has long been egging Khan for a fight, but the southpaw simply won't bite, claiming Brook is not on his level. But the longer he believes that, the more he is left idle with his selective nature.

Khan has placed himself in the class of Pacquiao and Mayweather, which many may not necessarily agree on. Aside from his reason on considering Brook as someone who needs to boost his stock, he prefers not to fight a countryman.

But the reality of it all is that Khan has been shunned by most big name fighters and the longer he waits, the likely he will not figure in any big fights. To cut it short, Khan needs to do some building of his own despite the superiority he feels he has already achieved.

As far as Brook is concerned, his camp has agreed to give Khan the larger chunk of the fight purse at 60/40. Khan wanted an 80/20 split, but Brook and manager Eddie Hearn believe that it was too much.

According to a report from the Daily Mail, a Brook vs. Khan fight is miles away and looms to be improbable to happen. With that in mind, Brook is ready to move on and look for other fighters to face.

His name was ironically mentioned by Freddie Roach as a prospect for Miguel Cotto. The names mentioned by Roach were him, Juan Manuel Marquez and Liam Smith.

Is it a coincidence that Khan wasn't mentioned on that list?

Aside from Cotto, Brook could face Danny Garcia as well. But before that, he has business to take care of this February as he defends his International Boxing Federation (IBF) title against mandatory challenger Kevin Bizier.
