'Boruto: Naruto the Movie' updates: Excerpt from one-shot companion manga released; U.S. locations revealed

Boruto: Naruto the Movie Toho

"Boruto: Naruto the Movie" will be shown in Japan in less than two weeks and those who will watch the film will get a copy of the Official Movie Book as a freebie. The short manga titled "The Day Naruto Became a Hokage" (Naruto ga Hokage ni Natta Hi) was personally illustrated by "Naruto" manga series creator Masashi Kishimoto. According to Anime News Network, it tells a whole new story not seen in the manga.

Just recently, Comic Natalie shared an excerpt of that booklet on its website. It shows Kakashi as he introduces Naruto as the Seventh Hokage during a special ceremony. Apart from this untold tale, the book also contains a copy of the 700th and concluding chapter of main manga series.

"Boruto: Naruto the Movie" will hit Japan cinemas on Aug 7. Anime News Network reports that the night before that, on Aug. 6 at 11:30 p.m., select theaters will showcase a live stage greeting by Kishimoto along with other voice cast members. By midnight, the official movie will be shown.

Eleven Arts, one of the two companies handling the distribution of the anime film — the other one being Viz Media — recently announced that the movie will be screened in 80 cities in the United States. So far, the company listed 53 locations and promised to add more. In these theaters, the film will still be shown in Japanese but with English subtitles. The showings will take place on varying dates all across the month of October. The company said that the information listed is still subject to change so it's important for fans to keep their eyes out on this.

"Boruto: Naruto the Movie" follows Naruto's equally confident son as he tries to surpass his father's legacy by becoming an apprentice to Sasuke.
