Booth (David Boreanaz) will have some stiff competition for Brennan's (Emily Deschanel) hand in the back-to-back episodes of the midseason finale of "Bones."
In an extended promo, Boreanaz and Deschanel shows all sorts of events that viewers should expect to see in the upcoming finale, "The Cowboy in the Contest." In the clip, a cowboy appears to be enamored with Brennan, as he cannot help but express his admiration for her when she first appeared at the shooting competition. He is even seen punching Booth on the face when the latter dares to kiss her while dancing in one of the socials.
Husband and wife will be going undercover for this episode, as they need to get to the bottom of a case they are working on. They have to act like strangers, though, as others must not learn that they are being investigated. Booth has the crazy idea of going clandestine, and as Aubrey (John Boyd) points out, he just wants to dress up as a cowboy, complete with a hat and a gun. Brennan is not as enthusiastic with the plan at first, but she goes on to enjoy playing Wildcard Wanda at the end.
The pair even get to demonstrate their skill in using the rifle, as they join the shooting contest. The competition is fierce between the two, as each does not want to end up losing to the other. What is great to watch is how Booth and Brennan embrace their character and enjoy every minute of the experience. Even Aubrey gets the chance to work on the field, as he is seen wearing a poncho while riding a horse named Butterscotch.
While the first half of the midseason finale involves a lot of fun and laughter, "The Doom in the Boom" is a direct contrast, as it involves a shocking explosion that leaves Cam (Tamara Taylor) reeling. Some sources say someone will die in this episode. Considering Cam's expression in the promo, it appears it will be a person close to them. Arastoo (Pej Vahdat) is reportedly returning in the finale. Will he be the one who will turn up dead?
"Bones" season 11 midseason finale will air on Thursday, Dec. 10, at 8 p.m. EST on FOX.
