Bobbi Kristina Brown health update: still not awake

After singer Bobby Brown announced Saturday that his daughter with the late singing sensation Whitney Houston woke up after almost three months of medically induced coma, a source close to the family denied the claims. The source told CNN that although 22-year old Bobbi Kristina is no longer sedated or in a coma, she still does not respond to any stimuli.

Brown told concert goers during his show at the Verizon Theatre in Dallas that his daughter is already awake, and that she is already watching him perform. However, Whitney's mother Cissy Houston told PEOPLE that her granddaughter has "irreversible brain damage."

"I have just returned from visiting my granddaughter Bobbi Kristina in the hospital and while she is no longer in a medically induced coma she has a tracheotomy and according to the doctors she has global and irreversible brain damage and remains unresponsive," the Houston matriarch said.

Cissy also stated that the doctors explained to her that Bobbi Kristina can be in the coma state for a lifetime, and it cannot be treated.

"We can only trust in God for a miracle at this time. Keep us in your prayers," Cissy said.

Bobbi Kristina was brought to an Atlanta hospital on Jan. 31 after she was discovered unconscious and unresponsive in her bathtub in her home in Roswell, Georgia. The doctors tried to wean her from the medically induced coma in February, but decided to place her back into coma after experiencing violent seizures.

Bobby and Whitney's daughter is now in a long-term care facility, also in Georgia.

Meanwhile, Bobby's present wife Alicia Etheredge-Brown recently released a statement on E! News regarding her husband's statements last Saturday, saying:

My husband made an attempt to correct the negative comments he must endure on a daily basis from both family and the public regarding his daughter's medical condition. He is encouraged by the steps that Bobbi Kristina has made since her hospitalization on January 31, 2015. She has made it out of ICU, opened her eyes, and started a rehabilitation that will be long and hard."

Alicia also said that she and the rest of her family are looking forward to seeing Bobbi Kristina in a better state so she can have a relationship with her still unborn sister.
