BlackBerry Priv vs iPhone 6s vs Galaxy S6 specs comparison: How do the flagships fare against one another?

 BlackBerry blog

BlackBerry has just confirmed rumors that it will be outing an Android-run smartphone before the year ends. Codenamed Venice in the rumor mill, the soon-to-be-released handset from the Ontario-based tech manufacturer now has "BlackBerry Priv" as its official name.

Although the tech company is still silent regading specific details of the Priv, particularly its specs sheet, fans are now wondering how BlackBerry's first-ever Android-based smartphone will compare with other flagships, like the recently released iPhone 6s and South Korea-based Samsung's premium Galaxy S6.

Display

In terms of screen, the Galaxy S6 has a 5.1-inch display, bigger than the iPhone 6s' 4.7. Although Apple retained its Retina HD display for the new iteration, the resolution of the iPhone 6s is 720p, according to website Stuff. Meanwhile, the Galaxy S6 has a Quad HD screen, which readily displays 2K content.

It is rumored, meanwhile, that the BlackBerry Priv will come with a 5.4-inch QHD screen with 2560 x 1440 resolution.

Under the hood

Apple significantly updated the tech specs of its new iPhones. The iPhone 6s now sports the powerful A9 chipset and features long-awaited upgrade to 2 GB of RAM. This might sound insignificant to the Galaxy S6's 3 GB RAM, but given the iOS 9's lean build, the doubled-up RAM significantly increases the 6s' performance and speed.

The Galaxy S6, meanwhile, has a homegrown Exynos 7420 chipset and is considered to be one of the most powerful Android smartphones to date. As for the BlackBerry Priv, TechTimes reported that the handset will come with a Snapdragon 808 chipset, the same processor that powers the LG G4.

Features

Much has been said about the Galaxy S6 and iPhone 6s' features. In the case of the BlackBerry Priv, however, it seems that two of its main selling points would be the physical keyboard and its security feature. The keyboard has long been a signature of BlackBerry devices, and the Priv will not deviate from that. The physical keyboard itself is aesthetically striking and designed as a slider so users can easily switch between it and an on-screen one. Meanwhile, the device will also come with the signature company security, which is known to be robust and has enterprise-level encryption.
