'Better Call Saul' season 3 spoilers, release date news: morality of Jimmy and Kim tested; Jimmy starts change into Saul?

Giancarlo Esposito as Gustavo Fring AMC

For a while now, fans of the "Breaking Bad" spinoff "Better Call Saul" have been expecting Gus Fring (Giancarlo Esposito) to enter the picture for the show's third season. Fring could play an important role in Jimmy McGill's (Bob Odenkirk) transition into fast-talking lawyer Saul Goodman, who specializes in cases involving drug lords and big time criminals.

The rumors were sparked by an easter egg embedded by the show's writers at the beginning of each episode title with the first letters reading "Fring's Back." While the show creators admitted to leaving the hint, they say it may take a while for the popular character to return in the early episodes of the show.

"This is a character who is very circumspect. Very cautious. He does not reveal himself easily. He makes people work to get to him as we saw him make Walter White work very hard and jump through a great many hoops to get to face-to-face with him in Breaking Bad," show creator Vince Gilligan told Vanity Fair.

Meanwhile, the show has recently started to shoot for the third season in Albequerque, New Mexico. It has been reported that Gilligan will also direct the first episode of the season.

The third season is expected to be pivotal for Jimmy, who may be pushed to change his ways because of desperation. It has been rumored that this is the season that Jimmy finally "becomes" Saul Goodman.

And its not just Jimmy who will have his morals tested this season as his girlfriend Kim (Rhea Seehorn) will also be challenged to stay on the straight and narrow when the show returns, reported Christian Times.

"I understand the comfort it gives all of us, and I think the audience feels this when you think about things in black-and-white terms. Like, 'If I just keep my head down and work hard enough things will be okay. And that's not true, and it's unsettling when that's not true. And it's not true for Kim and Jimmy, she needs Jimmy as much as Jimmy needs her, I think," Seehorn told Vulture about her character's dilemma.

"Better Call Saul" is set to return to AMC early next year.
