Subday night's "Celebration of Gospel" was a high-energy, entertaining show, full of spirit-filled performances and uplifting testimonies. The annual BET special was hosted by Academy Award-nominated actress Taraji P. Henson, and featured top artists in both the gospel and R&B genres.

Oxygen's "Preachers of L.A." star Deitrick Haddon and his League of Xtraordinary Worshippers (LXW) opened the show with their contemporary gospel track "Great God," and Grammy-nominated gospel singer and actress Tamela Mann inspired worship with her performance of "I Can Only Imagine."

R&B/Soul singer Chanté Moore gave a moving performance of her single, "Jesus, I Want You" before being joined on stage by gospel singer/songwriter Vashawn Mitchell. The two Grammy-nominated artists sang Vashawn's single "Chasing After You," with an dynamic choir accompanying.

Another successful collaboration was the legendary Rance Allen Group and R&B trio SWV. The riveting performance included a live band and brought the audience to its feet. Christian contemporary artist Jonathan McReynolds performed with Grammy award-winning neo-soul singer India.Aire in a graceful acoustic set. Both artists played the guitar, and India.Aire also played the flute.

One of the night's most anticipated performances was R&B singer Charlie Wilson. The former Gap Band vocalist did not disappoint, playing a piano illuminated with LED lights and being accompanied by a choir, string orchestra, saxophonist, and guitarist. Wilson shared his testimony of deliverance before leading the audience into an electrifying praise break.

The evening also included performances by Kem, Eddie Levert, and Tye Tribett, and inspirational messages from Pastor Shirley Caesar and Dr. Bobby Jones. Gospel pioneer Richard Smallwood was honored in an all-star ensemble featuring Yolanda Adams, Donnie McClurkin, and others. Clips, red carpet interviews, and behind-the-scenes footage are available on BET.com.
