Ben Carson talks about the Second Coming of Jesus Christ, says 'it could be tomorrow'

Republican presidential candidate Dr. Ben Carson strongly believes in the Second Coming of Jesus Christ, and before that day comes, he has remained committed to living his life "consistent with the will of God."

"I obviously do look forward to the return of Christ, you know, as described in 1 Thessalonians 4. I believe that you should lead your life in such a way that every day could be your last day," he shared during an interview with Christianity Today. "So you shouldn't be like planning oh, a year from now, five years, I'll do this or ten years I'll do this. You need to lead the right kind of life as if you were going to die today."

Carson said that Christians need to remember the Book of Psalms when it comes to the Second Coming of Jesus. According to it, said Carson, "one day is like a thousand years or a thousand years is like a day," so His imminent return could happen in "3,000 years or 30,000 years — or it could be tomorrow."

The former neurosurgeon also stressed that it would be "foolish" to live life as if Jesus is not coming back anytime, although he admitted that he has completely "no idea" when He will return.

What Carson does acknowledge, however, is that there are many signs pointing to the Second Coming. One of the biggest signs is the rise of the Islamic State, which Carson said fits "in with a lot of things that are predicted in the Bible."

"But I do recognise what is happening in the world, you know, with the radical Islamic Jihadists," he continued. "I do recognise that it will not be possible to keep nuclear weapons out of their hands forever. And I do realise that they have a mindset that would not preclude them from using them. So, you know, all of that obviously is something of concern."
