Avengers Infinity Wars release date, spoilers: parts consolidated into one film, no title yet for second movie

'Avengers: Infinity War' shakes up the Marvel Universe--including its line-up? Marvel

Its official. After working as Avengers:Infinity Wars 1 and 2, Marvel and Disney has announced that they will be renaming the two movies that will serve to end the Avengers movie franchise.

According to director Joe Russo, who is directing the two final movies with his brother Anthony, they wanted to clear misconceptions that the last two movies are somehow extensions of one another.

"The two movies are two very different movies. The titles "Part 1 and Part 2" were "misleading"," he explained.

Marvel has announced that the first part will retain the Infinity Wars title but the second film is yet to be named.

It remains unclear what this would mean for both movies but this makes it clear that the Infinity Stones arc will be tackled in the first movie alone.

Pundits theorize that the recent trend of splitting finale films into two movies has not boded well in other franchises causing the studios to rethink their original plan. It could also be that the studios were presented with a better idea for the second movie leading them to consolidate the earlier script to compress it into a single movie.

Meanwhile, a post by Cinemablend has consolidated what little has been released about the first movie including some theories about the characters.

It would be interesting to see what the reunion of the Avengers will mean for Tony Stark, who at the end of Captain America: Civil War was still reeling from finding out who killed his parents. It is expected that some tension will happen between him and the Cap.

On the other hand, Captain America would have to deal with the aftermath of his and the other Avengers' escape from captivity even as he is faced with dealing with Thanos and his bid to become more powerful through the Infinity Stones.

As for Thor and the Hulk, who will be appearing on Thor: Ragnarok before they return to Infinity Wars, Thor will most likely survive the movie as he has signed on to appear in Infinity Wars while it was reported that when Hulk returns, he will be more intelligent, although it is unclear how this will go about.

Infinity Wars is expected to premiere May 4, 2018 while the now unnamed Part 2 comes a year later on May 3, 2019.
