Asus ZenFone 2 Laser 5.5 release date comes to India

One of the regions where Taiwan-based mobile device manufacturer Asus hopes to corner is India, and this market is one of the very first places where the company unveiled its new Asus products, particularly the expanded products in the ZenFone 2 lineup.

It was reported that the ZenFone 2 products, particularly the Laser 5.5 edition, received such a good response that Asus launched the device much earlier than its anticipated Sept. 19 release date. The original release date was part of Asus' announcement during the ZenFest event held last month. However, the company announced last week that prior to the opening, pre-orders for the ZenFone 2 Laser 5.5-inch version already reached 30,000, prompting the company to reset the release date.

Noting the change, Peter Chang, regional head of System Business Group for Asus India, said, "Being a new entrant in the market, consumers have accepted the brand with such great enthusiasm that we have to reset the sale date of our latest offering. Our endeavor has always been to 'empower luxury to everyone' and Zenfone 2 Laser 5.5 is priced in a way that targets masses with its high-end features."

The ZenFone 2 Laser is part of the expansion for the ZenFone 2 series and comes in two variants: the 5.0-inch and the 5.5-inch version. The original ZenFone 2 was seen first in Taiwan back in March before it was launched in the U.S. in May. One of the noted features of the lineup is that the ZenFone 2 is the first device to carry 4 GB of RAM.

Meanwhile, the ZenFone 2 Laser 5.5 edition's most noted feature is its 13 MP rear camera with laser-assisted autofocus that shoots clear and crisp images in as quickly as 0.3 second. The camera also records full HD videos at 1080p and 30 fps.
