ASUS Fonepad 7 specs: New tablet returns with improved Intel Atom processor

On the outside, the latest Asus Fonepad 7 may not necessarily look like a new device. That is because most of the changes were made internally, led no less by a new Intel Atom processor.

Consumers are bound to get initially confused, unless they go as far as checking the model number which will be FE375CL. With the Asus Fonepad 7 looking a lot like the old one, it may be best to check the model number to make sure you are getting the newer one. The previous model number was FE170CG.

Moving forward, the improvements to the new Fonepad 7 were made internally. Leading the way is the Intel Atom Z3530 processor clocked at 1.3 GHz which will provide the necessary improvements from the previous model. The FE170CG used the Intel Atom Z2560 (clocked at 1.6 GHz).

Aside from that, among the new features that the Asus Fonepad 7 will include a bigger and improved 7-inch display (1200x800) along with a 2MP front-facing camera as well as a 5MP rear-facing camera.

For storage, it comes in either 8GB or 16GB variations which can be expanded through a microSD card slot. There is also 5GB of cloud storage which should give customers plenty of options as far as file storage is concerned.

The phone will of course come with the usual LTE and 3G connectivity and will run on Android 5.0 Lollipop.

The Asus Fonepad 7 will initially be made available over in Taiwan where it will retail for about $250. There is no word yet on when and where it would be made available for now.
