'Arrow' season 4 spoilers: Creator confirms 'lighter tone'

The Arrow Internet Movie Database (IMDb)

A lot of major changes are expected to appear in The CW's "Arrow" season 4. Both series star Stephen Amell and showrunner Marc Guggenheim confirmed that things will not be the same next season, even the main theme of the show.

In an interview with io9, Guggenheim said that "Arrow" season 4 will have a lighter tone compared to the very dark season 3. The series creator explained that starting season 3 with the death of Sara Lance (Caity Lotz) set the tone for the rest of the season, and it became darker as the episodes aired. But things will be a little different when the show returns.

"Every year you want to mix things up and there was sort of a collective desire on all of our parts to try to inject a little bit more lightness into the show, a little bit more humor. It's not going to radically change. The show's still going to be the show but in terms of tone we're coming off a very very hard season for all of our characters. We wanted to try to mix it up a little bit," Guggenheim said.

On the other hand, Amell talked about the upcoming changes to his character Oliver Queen once the show returns this fall.

During the last red carpet event held by The CW network in New York, Amell stated that the Arrow fans have come to know no longer exists.

"Arrow is done. No more Arrow suit. I've worn it for the last time," the actor told E! News

Although the actor did not provide further details, he possibly meant that his character will have another costume next season. This is probably a sign that the show is definitely gearing toward the lighter tone which Guggenheim talked about.

"Arrow" season 4 is expected to join The CW's fall lineup later this year.
