Are you wasting time watching TV?

Adults in Britain are losing an average of nine years of their life watching television.

A survey of 2,000 people by TV and movie provider Blinkbox found that the average Brit spends three-and-a-half hours in front of the TV each day.

That rises to five-and-a-half hours per day over the Christmas period.

At least three out of the nine years are spent watching "rubbish" and programme repeats.

The TV habit dwarfs the time spent on other activities like shopping and playing sport.

More than three quarters of those surveyed said they like to watch the same movie each Christmas.

Home Alone was the most popular choice for the annual festive movie.

The survey was carried out by One Poll on adults between the ages of 18 and 80.
