Fresh out of the blockbuster success of "Furious 7," director James Wan is reportedly in talks with DC Comics execs regarding the highly anticipated "Aquaman" film. The Hollywood Reporter exclusively reported that Wan is being tapped by Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment to spearhead the development of the superhero movie, which will feature "Game of Thrones" alum Jason Momoa in the title role.

Sources told the entertainment website that although Wan has yet to receive the official offer for the upcoming King of Atlantis project, he is on top of the studio's list of directors who they want to work with, and several initial talks about the project have already commenced. However, Wan and his camp are still silent about this report.

Also, it has yet to be revealed if he will still be a part of the "Fast and Furious" franchise should Universal decide to release a new installment for the Vin Diesel-led series. At the moment, the alleged "Furious 8" film still has no director, and the project still needs a go-signal to proceed. But with the $500 million gross in the box-office during its first week of release, it will not be impossible to hear an update about the project sometime soon.

But if Wan will be tapped to direct the next "Furious" film, it could affect his possible job as "Aquaman" helmer.

Aquaman will be introduced in the 2016 "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" film, top-billed by Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill. He will also be a part of the "Justice League" film franchise. Two individual scripts are reportedly being developed for the standalone "Aquaman" project, written separately by Kurt Johnstad and Will Beall.

Warner Bros. is expected to reveal more about "Aquaman" in the coming months. The film is scheduled for release on July 23, 2018.
