Apple Watch 2, iPad Air 3 rumors: New Apple products to be released in March?

An Apple-hosted event is said to be happening on March 15. Rumor has it that the event will showcase several of the company's products that the tech world is highly anticipating, namely, the Apple Watch 2 and the iPad Air 3.

The Apple Watch was released last April, and many are expecting that the company will launch its successor this coming March to feed the hype it has created. Among the Apple Watch 2 rumored features are Watch OS3, tetherless Wi-Fi, Siri-controlled timer, improved fitness apps, more sensors, water proofing, a video camera for FaceTime video calls and new materials such as platinum, titanium, and even liquid metal. Sources also said that the Apple Watch 2 will have the same shape and screen size, but will be thinner and will house a longer-lasting battery life.

However, there are several reports that the next generation watch will be unveiled in September together with the rumored iPhone 7 and MacBook line but will still feature Apple Watch update accessories. These include a possible OS 2.2 update, new colors of rubber Sports Bands, a black Milanese Loop and additional colors of the Hermes line bands.

There are also predictions that the iPad Air 3 might be demonstrated at the event in March. It will likely have an A9X processor, as revealed in a Bloomberg interview with Apple's Johny Srouji. Additionally, the screen is said to get an update -- it will now be sporting a 2,334 x 3,112 resolution. It might have a a total of four speakers, two on the top and another two on the bottom; a Smart Connector for accessories; and an LED flash for the rear-facing camera, to improve night shots.

Since Apple is also known not to alter much of the physical appearance of its product, many are also speculating that the body shape and material will be similar to its predecessor. According to the source of Engadget, the iPad Air 3 may be slightly wider and thicker, 0.05 mm and 0.1 mm, respectively.

In passing, the Bloomberg article also reinforced the rumored March event.
