Recently, Apple's iOS was thrust into the spotlight because some iPhone users found out that there is a high chance they would be locked out of their Messages app if they receive and open a string of text in a message. In some instances, iPhones were also bricked and became unusable.
It was also found out that the bug not only affects iPhones but other Apple devices as well. In addition, the glitch has also been found to affect third-party apps such as SnapChat. Therefore, iPad, media player iPod, and even some Apple Watch and Mac users have joined some iPhone owners in clamoring for a fix.
To address the issue, Apple said it is working on a permanent fix for the glitch. In the meantime, the Cupertino-based company has released a work-around for the malicious text message. According to the notes posted on the Apple support page, users can use their proprietary digital assistant Siri to try and read incoming messages instead of opening them up right away. This would filter the user's inbox and may prevent the string of codes from corrupting the Apple device.
Since Apple has already seeded the iOS 8.4 version to developers, it is likely that the company will be issuing a micro update for the platform once the permanent fix has been finished. According to Apple observer and fan site MacRumors, the fix has already been integrated into another new developer version of iOS 8.4 and will be ready to roll it out as a micro update on or before June 30.
The newest platform of the iOS is its 8.4 version, and will be ready to roll out to the many Apple devices worldwide. However, the hype for the iOS 8.4 was overshadowed by Apple's announcement of the upcoming iOS 9 at this year's Worldwide Developers Conference.
