Apple iWatch vs Moto 360 comparison: Smartwatch race heats up as weather cools down

Motorola Moto 360

While Apple stays mum about the coming of the iWatch (if the company is indeed working on such a project), Motorola has not been at all silent about the launch of Moto 360. The latter announced its smartwatch in March and it looks like it's ready for its official debut on Sept. 4 in Chicago.

Based on the photos released by the company, the Motorola Moto 360 has the looks of an elegant round-faced wristwatch that would go well with one's office attire without bulk or rugged edges. Since it's powered by Android Wear, it can do so much more than just tell the time.

According to an early blog post published by the company in March:

Moto 360 keeps you on time and up to date without taking you out of the moment or distracting you by telling you what you need to know before you know you need it through subtle alerts and notifications. With just a twist of the wrist you can see who's emailing or calling, what time your next meeting is or check a friend's latest social post.

Moto 360 also responds to your voice. Just say "Ok Google" to ask questions like who won the Stanford vs. New Mexico game or what time your flight leaves, or to get stuff done like scheduling an appointment, sending a text, setting an alarm or taking a note.

Also, if the leaked-by-mistake info from Best Buy, as captured by Droid Life, is accurate, then Moto 360 is compatible with most Android 4.3+ devices, has an optical heart rate monitor, a pedometer, a 1.5-inch backlit LCD screen, and Bluetooth 4.0 technology among other features.

It's not going to take long until Motorola officially announces the specs anyway. However, many wish the same for Apple – until now. Even with the holidays fast approaching (again), the existence of the mysterious Apple wearable still remains unconfirmed.
